Lucy Hatch is a homegrown, red-dirt, East Texas girl, not at all suited for the fast life her husband was living in Nashville. Now she's back in the small town of Mooney, working at Faye's Flower Shop, and raising her young son with help from family and friends. Her life has finally stopped resembling a Hank Williams song...until she wakes up one morning to find a shiny white pickup parked in her yard. The worn-out cowboy boots sticking out the window tell her that the man sleeping inside is her husband Ash Farrell's back in town.
Now Mooney's favorite son is making promises, vowing to change, and wreaking havoc on the peace Lucy's worked so hard to find. She wants to believe that her handsome husband is serious about straightening up, but can a charmer like Ash really change?
Marsha Moyer brings colorful storytelling, a wonderful sense of humor, and an undeniable Southern flavor to Heartbreak Town, a novel of small-town life, big-time success, and a once-in-a-lifetime love worth fighting for after all.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. The story line is great. I love the Texas setting and the descriptions are very interesting and I plan on keeping this series on my book shelves to read again. The characters are believable and their troubles are understandable. I like the relationship that Lucy has with her family including her sister-in-law. The flower shop seems unique as does the rest of the town. I enjoyed reading about Denny, too, and her growing up stages. If you are in to reading about fractured families who do the best they can with what they have, then this would be a very good series for you. I recommend highly.Product details

Heartbreak Town A Novel (Audible Audio Edition) Marsha Moyer Lauren Fortgang Audible Studios Books Reviews
Lucy Hatch Farrell left her country-singing husband in Nashville and returned to her east Texas hometown of Mooney. Heartbroken and afraid, she decided she couldn't live with Ash's drinking and wanted more for her son, Jude. So she's just a bit surprised when months later she wakes to find a new pickup truck parked in her yard and her estranged husband's cowboy boots sticking out the window-the same husband who is supposed to be in rehab.
Ash had to sign himself out of rehab. It just wasn't working for him. He knows if he and Lucy can work things out it will be better than any rehab. And so what if Lucy won't let him move into the house they both still own? He can always park a trailer in the yard and live there. He can also have company there, even a raven-haired woman who has a less-than-stellar reputation. If Lucy doesn't want him back right away, he's got things to work on.
Several weeks after Ash shows up, a young man comes looking for him. Hardy Knox has tracked Ash all the way from Tennessee to Texas because he knows they would make a great song writing and performing duo. At first surprised to see him, Ash lets him hang around and work with him. They might be famous some day, and in the meantime Hardy can teach Jude something about music on the days Ash has him after school.
The characters are fun, witty, caring and smart. Lucy loves Ash and wants things to work out while keeping in mind there is no quick fix for his alcoholism. She tries to be very careful of Jude's feelings while she works at giving Ash the benefit of the doubt. Ash knows he's messed up but truly wants to make things right again. His love of Lucy was his inspiration when song writing was going well. Fun, believable, sweet, and sassy-all come to mind after reading this book.
Armchair Interviews says This is the third of four books in this series, and you'll want the others.
Ash really was a jerk in this book. Seemed that they had problems back in Nashville so Lucy returned home and he didn't show up for 8 months. We never really learned what, where, or with whom he was during that time. Perhaps because the book is a first person account. Would have been nice if he could have answered her questions but he didn't. I don't think he ever really did. I suppose that is the problem with first person books but then you tend to not like some of the characters. Seemed to me that Ash was a cheater and he would go back to his wife and she never said anything about that except for his drinking. That she had a problem with. Suppose that is a bad thing but so is the cheating especially with all the diseases and such out there. And you know that it crossed their minds if he is saying he is clean as a whistle. . . just how clean is that whistle when everyone and their sister has been blowing on it???
Oh and then Ash had is never to tell her to look at herself. Yeah I still don't see what she could have possibly done to him for him to say that. Sure she ran off a few times in the previous book but she was just finding her feet after her husband of 14 years was tragically killed. Maybe she didn't love him but he was there for 14 years and now he is suddenly gone and so many things have changed. It's kinda hard to go from one extreme to the next and not have some kind of fall out.
Ash was completely selfish. Lucy was just as clueless in not even broaching the subject of the infidelity. How in the world could you possibly trust someone like that? Ash was an alcoholic and why in the world would the whole town be cheering for those two to get back together? Didn't they know what he did? Heck the night she left he toed the line of violence towards her and seemed more concerned with the breaking of the bottle than her getting hurt. Then how about the bar scene. I don't know but it seemed to me that he was going to run her over and if that loud mouth man didn't pull her back she would have been flattened against the wall. Perhaps he should have left her and then Ash would have WOKE UP!!!
More life and times of Lucy and Ash. I liked this book because I have been sucked into the story by the first two books in the series, but it took me a while to read as I just was not ever super compelled to pick it up. Okay, that being said, I still plan on reading the last installment in this series as I can't let Lucy and Ash go until the author does.
Marsha once again brings us to Texas with the gang...Lucy, Ash, Denny....and we are lost in the world of the Farrell's. I can't wait for book number 5!!!!!!!!!!
I was greatly impressed by the first Lucy Hatch novel. The second wasn't quite as good, but was nevertheless above average. And I will read the next and final one. But 'Heartbreak Town' didn't quite live up to my expectations. We all know that Cinderella and her prince don't really go on to live 'happily ever after.' Yet I found reading this one to be painful. And I think it was because of Moyer's approach - Lucy talks too much about the past and past transgressions, but we don't see them ourselves. Reading this one I felt that the entire book was just a set up for the next one, when all will again be sorted out. I wish I'd just waited and read books 3 and 4 back to back.
